Maybe he had a bright idea that he put to the NHL.

Going to be interesting to find out the reasons behind this firing...if they ever come out.

Doesn't sound like they will.
I get the impression that that was hinted at in the article when they say that the team representatives on that board can fire him without consulting their teams.

The gist I got from the HTM boys on XM/Sirius was that Kelly was getting too chummy with Bettman and the NHL front office, and that he wasn't as hard-liner as they thought when he was hired a couple years back.

Of course, it might also just be that Lindros and company just politicked him out of office and the player reps fell for it.

Unless oil continues to drop....

So for the NHL to get healthy I might have to lose my job.

Frankly, it would be pound foolish. Extremely, pound foolish. Both the NBA and NFL are looking at lock-out and strike situations. The NHL could rule the roost if the players pull their head out of their asses and see that revenues HAVE to go up in this case because they would be the only game in town and the money would be rolling in. How hard would it be for the Preds to get an extra 1,000-1,500 seats filled in the Titans took the year off?

That's the problem... they didn't recognize a good thing when they had it. So I'm fairly positive they will f*ck this up for all of us.
