Now you're getting cheeky!! LOL

Pred-oi!-tors wrote:Well Chas you said we all scream about consistency and you are absolutely correct. That is THE biggest gripe I have. Second is the pass given to the vets. I like how trotz sat goc a couple of games ago because he wanted "to see more pop out of him" (or something like that) but erat, hamhuis, arnott, sullivan...nothing, no comment. And, frankly, I don't EVER expect to hear trotz call out arnott or sullivan.
If trotz was replaced tomorrow I wouldn't mind.

This has to be an all time first in hockey message board history.
All the current posters are in complete agreement without anyone taking a contradictory stance!! LOLOL

OK, see now this is a great example of trotz giving a pass to the vets on this team. This is from glennon's blog:
Coach Barry Trotz said Arnott has been playing extremely physically and confidently.

"When he wants to play that '6-foot-5, I've got the puck and you're not getting it,' he's dominant," Trotz said. "He was playing that way in Washington, that big man's game."

WTF Barry!!! "When he wants to play that [type of game]" How about adding "We need him to play like that a lot more!" But no he just lets it go like like he has no problem with it. The CAPTAIN should be setting the example and playing with that mentality all the time, not when he wants to.
And I know arnotts never been an overly physical player so I shouldn't expect it now...but he's never been the captain of a team either.

Yes, exactly. Why doesn't Trotz INSIST that Arnott plays like that ALL the time?????

In fairness, it's hard to do every single game, but he needs to do it at least 80-90% of the time instead the 40-50% we usually see. I have never understood Trotz's unwillingness to call out his vets. It smacks of favoritism and frankly sets a bad example.

I just wish Freeman and co would take an honest look at our performance and realize that something needs to change. I mean an underperforming employee gets talked to, then written up and then terminated. We've talked, we've written, the next step should be bye-bye.

Of course, if we really suck, we can draft first! With a new GM hopefully.

It all boils down to general consistency and I think it's been proved now that the problem is rooted in the coaching rather than the players.
