You know, the Admirals keep this up, I'm going to be SICK of Frostys from Wendy's by year's end.
Admirals hang a four-spot on the Ice Hogs, beating second-place Rockford 4-1 in front of 6,527 at the Bradley Center.
Goals from Franson, Peters, Maki and Mike Santorelli outweighed Klinkhammer's first goal for the Hogs. Macintyre stopped 26 of 27 to earn a deserved 2nd star behind Ryan Maki and just ahead of Mike Santorelli. You honestly could have had your pick of stars tonight - which is always a good thing.
Admirals played an excellent forechecking game, stealing the puck off of Rockford players' sticks frequently in the later stages of the game. Complexion of the game changed after Franson tied the game up in the second
The only thing that kept this game from being 8-1 or more was the 8 times the Ads were shorthanded. The Ads, to their credit, killed all eight penalties. However, they sure didn't look like they were one of the AHL's best power-play teams during the last penalty at the end of the second period.
An aside: Ryan Fraser was the referee tonight; he did not seem to be thrilled at being in Milwaukee at all. I noticed that the last time (and, possibly only other time) he was the ref, he also called a ton of penalties during that game.
The Skille/Ortmeyer fight was incredibly one-sided. Skille got up in Jed's face, and Jed pounded him for about 10 seconds before Skille dropped to a knee.
A pretty enjoyable night for the first of three straight. Good thing the road game tomorrow is just down the road in Rosemont.
